I need help with my samsung finesse?

i just got the ohone and i have the memory card but i cant connect my phone to my mac i tryed the cord nothing happens but it starts to charge i also tryed the bluetooth it connects for a second then unconnects on my computer i can still send pic/videos/music to my mac but not from my mac to my phone is there any setting i have to change or what please help
